Shadow Link Master Sword - part 2

Part two : The hilt and paper mache

Stuff I used to make the hilt:
- the blade
- some cardboard
- a ruler
- a few sketches
- scissors
- and a pencil
First I measured how far the handle would stick out.

 And cut it to size.
I made a rough sketch of hilt...
 and cut out the outline.
I then traced the hilt onto another piece of cardboard...
sandwiched it in between the blade...
 and taped it together.
For the paper mache I used:
- a bowl
- a fork
- some flour
- water
- and two stacks of different types of paper (I will explain)
I mixed the flour and water to a thick consistency.
I couldn't take pictures while I was layering the paper on, I covered the whole sword in newspaper as first layer. I then used brown paper for the second layer so I knew which parts had already been covered.
Here is an in between stage of layering. The newspaper is the first layer, and the brown paper is the second layer.
The best part about layering paper mache at night is that it will continue to dry as you sleep, and then in the morning it will be mostly dry, maybe a little damp, but mostly dry and you can continue to work on it in the morning!
That's all I did for today now I go to sleep....

Project : Shadow Link Master Sword

I'm currently working on a Master sword for my friend.

I started with :
- a sketch
- a pencil
- a tape-measure
- cardboard
- wire clothes hangers (which I cut and bent straight)
- A crafting knife
- and tape

I taped the cardboard pieces together to make it the right length.
Then I measured and traced the cardboard into the basic shape of the blade.
 And cut out the blade.
 I  then took the wire...
and taped it to the blade.
I cut another blade out of cardboard...
and sandwiched the wire between the two blades.
Now the blade is ready for paper mache.
That's all I have done so far. I'll keep you posted.

What I've been up to for the past few weeks...

I've been busy the past few weeks :

I've crocheted a red mushroom and green mushroom. I gave both to two different friends.

I only took a picture of the green mushroom.
I've made a chibi Chekov from Star Trek for my best friend. She wanted the whole crew so at the moment I'm working on a chibi Spock.

Pavel Chekov.
Spock in progress.

It's not finished yet but I made a pose-able dragon of my original character Ember.

She's my muse, sitting on my crafting table watching me as I work. I made my first digital drawing her.

I've noticed that I make my best drawings or sculptures when I'm tired or should be going to bed. For example, I just had a sleepover at my friends house, when I got home I went upstairs to take a nap. I brought my sketch book with me as I got in bed and drew this :
